This contribution analyzes the representation of lesbian experience within the literary production of Adele Cambria, with particular reference to the novel Nudo di donna con rovine (1986). The analysis focuses on the characters of Lucrezia—the author’s alter ego—, as well as on other subjects, examining the ways in which the writer addresses central themes such as lesbian desire, motherhood, and the complex Oedipal dynamics that unfold within the narrative. The essay investigates how the lesbian figures portrayed acquire voice and move within a context that connects them to both contemporary and current critical debates. The examination extends, moreover, to the broader landscape of lesbian literature and feminist publishing in Italy, highlighting Cambria’s role within the editorial context of her time and her contribution to the representation of complex female interpersonal relationships during an era of significant socio-political transformations. The style, indeed, is characterized by the blending of autobiography and political reflection, and fully captures certain key issues of Italian feminism in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. The objective is to gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which Italian women writers, including those who have fallen into obscurity, explored and conferred meaning upon lesbian identity within the cultural context of the second half of the twentieth century.
