This study provides the first dedicated examination on Italian language teachers in Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC). It begins with an overview of the historical and cultural context, followed by a comprehensive review of the current state of Italian language instruction in Taiwan. Given the absence of prior research on this specific demographic, the primary aim of this research was to capture the current state of Italian language instruction within the aforementioned context. Consequently, the research questions focused on the pedagogical practices implemented by teachers and their perceptions of the specific environment in which they operate. The methodology involved the use of a questionnaire designed to capture teachers’ opinions and perspectives on various aspects of language teaching competences and methodologies. Subsequently, the data collected is presented and analysed. The findings underscore the significance of an intercultural approach among teachers within this particular educational context.
