This article reflects on the use of some spaces in Joan Salvat-Papasseit’s poetry. In addition to practicing a futuristic approach of sorts, he dedicated himself to contemplating the landscape —his— of the urban proletariat, full of cranes, trams, the harbor, and the streets that arise automatically, without great theoretical digressions. The combination of intimate, interior, still-life spaces with outdoor spaces such as those provided by the new means of transportation has not been highlighted enough. We will do it based on a series of poems from the volumes Poemes en ondes hertzianes (1919) and L’irradiador del port i les gavines (1921). This reading will allow us to see how, in almost pictorial terms, Salvat-Papasseit explores from a very original perspective unprecedented aspects of everyday life in modernity.
