The intervention presents some scenarios of the conflicts taking place in the medieval and humanistic period in Florence, seen through their literary (and more moderatly artistic) reflections. In particular, these are the internal struggles, mostly of a family nature but with broad political repercussions, which concern three topical moments: the beginning of the struggle between Guelphs and Ghibellines (early thirteenth century), also recorded by Dante Alighieri in Canto XXVIII of the "Inferno"; the clash between Albizzi and Medici in 1433-34, which led to Cosimo’s triumphant return to his hometown, of which he became ‘de facto’ Prince; and finally the Pazzi conspiracy (1478), with its load of victims, innocent and not.
