The aim of this paper is to briefly approach the usage of the peninsular Spanish conversation operator bueno in audiovisual translation from Spanish into Italian. As a first step, we will define this operator from a conceptual point of view, in order to observe its lexical and syntactic behaviour. Then, we will study which translation operations have been carried out when transferring this linguistic unit by means of subtitling from Spanish into Italian. The analysis will be carried out using the film Volver (2006) by the famous Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar. In the final part, some contrastive considerations will be drawn on the translation options that the audiovisual translation process has produced.
