The essay aims to frame the conceptual role played by the doctrine of original sin in the political thought of Blaise Pascal and Antonio Rosmini. In presenting the perspectives of the two authors, their mutual differences and points of contact will be highlighted. According to Pascal, original sin prevents man from the philosophical enquiry of a social ethic. For Rosmini, on the other hand, the consequences of original sin do not inhibit man's ability to rationally investigate the features of a just society. Given these fundamental differences, however, both authors end up developing political proposals that could be described as "conservative".

Abstract
The essay aims to frame the conceptual role played by the doctrine of original sin in the political thought of Blaise Pascal and Antonio Rosmini. In presenting the perspectives of the two authors, their mutual differences and points of contact will be highlighted. According to Pascal, original sin prevents man from the philosophical enquiry of a social ethic. For Rosmini, on the other hand, the consequences of original sin do not inhibit man's ability to rationally investigate the features of a just society. Given these fundamental differences, however, both authors end up developing political proposals that could be described as "conservative".I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
