The paper examines the critical reception of the exhibition Carlo Crivelli e i crivelleschi – Venice, Palazzo Ducale, June 10 - October 10, 1961 – through a reevaluation of the critical fortune of the event and the writings, including unpublished ones, of Pietro Zampetti. The investigation contextualizes the event within the framework of the traditional biennial exhibitions organized by the Municipality of Venice, before and after the Second World War. Through a rare photo-iconographic apparatus, the text documents the installation conducted by Egle Renata Trincanato. The discussion extends to the international critical reception of Carlo Crivelli, attempting to offer an interpretation linked to the different international orientations between the Eighteenth and Nineteenth centuries. The conclusions focus on the evolution of Pietro Zampetti’s critical thinking regarding the late Crivelli, the artistic environment between the Ducati of Urbino and Camerino and the Marcha of Ancona, towards a progressive approach to a modern concept of Adriatic figurative culture.

Abstract
The conclusions focus on the evolution of Pietro Zampetti’s critical thinking regarding the late Crivelli, the artistic environment between the Ducati of Urbino and Camerino and the Marcha of Ancona, towards a progressive approach to a modern concept of Adriatic figurative culture.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
