The article investigates Leopardi’s vision of Italian liberals by focusing on the last phase of his work. The aim is to demonstrate the prominence of a political reflection that stems from the contemporary geo-political context. By focusing on the prose of the 1820s and by analysing some passages of Paralipomeni, the essay first investigates the author’s ideological position towards the affirmation of instrumental reason, then it focuses on the satirical transposition of the conflict between liberals and Restorationists. The hypothesis is that Leopardi has been able to grasp certain principles belonging to what would be called the ‘dialectic of the Enlightenment’ a century later.

Abstract
The article investigates Leopardi’s vision of Italian liberals by focusing on the last phase of his work. The aim is to demonstrate the prominence of a political reflection that stems from the contemporary geo-political context. By focusing on the prose of the 1820s and by analysing some passages of Paralipomeni, the essay first investigates the author’s ideological position towards the affirmation of instrumental reason, then it focuses on the satirical transposition of the conflict between liberals and Restorationists. The hypothesis is that Leopardi has been able to grasp certain principles belonging to what would be called the ‘dialectic of the Enlightenment’ a century later.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
