Since then, the world has changed considerably and while the boundaries of politics and geopolitics are blurred by new technologies, new international actors and a financial and economic crisis, the question of transition and consolidation of democracy is still on the table. But does Huntington´s "third wave" theory hold on regarding the recent trends and events in world politics? In this brief article, I check the current status of democracy's third wave.
