This special issue offers contributions with the aim of studying the extent to which women have managed to “cross the stained-glass ceiling”, or at least acquire positions of influence and responsibility in the transnational Catholic world from the late 1950s to the early 2020s. Each article adds nuance and richness to our understanding of the evolution of the place of women within Catholicism over the past 70 years.
