This work aims to examine the presence and meaning of the neo-Gothic myth in El Bernardo according to three points: after an introduction to the situation of the poem in Spanish Golden Age epic poetry, we present a panorama of Gothic characters in the text, we analyze the passage dedicated to the narration of the history of the Visigoths from their Scandinavian origins, and we examine the insertion of Bernardo del Carpio in the Gothic lineage.

Abstract
