The world of arts and literature has risen to the tragedy due to the spread of the coronavirus with different stories from the resulting confinement. Although it is premature to develop a theory that makes sense about the artistic expressions coming from the pandemic, it is evident that in literature some hybrid narrative forms are beginning to develop. The authors mix the autobiographical story with fiction and essays. In the artistic field, on the other hand, the expression of discomfort due to the pandemic spreads more quickly and in a more explicit way. For these reasons we will focus on some of the literary works recently published in Latin America and Europe, and attention will be placed on the emblematic tale "Mc olvido de todo menos de mi cuerpo" by Alia Trabucco Zeran. We will also take two comics as examples of visual languages emerged from confinement: the comic strip-based video, Rebibbia Quarantine. Drammatico reportage dalla quarantena di Roma Nord Est, by Zerocalcare and "Pia forte di carta e inchiostro" which is part of the graphic novel Alck Sinner, by Jose Munoz and Carlos Sampayo. The comic strip has been chosen as the focal form because it is an extremely effective language due to its immediacy and ability to reach a wide audience, and because it is an example of an artistic product that can elicit essential reflections on the current crisis in the reader. In these works the artist and intellectual position stands out. Isolated and alone, they turn writing and art into a space of resistance.

Abstract

The world of arts and literature has risen to the tragedy due to the spread of the coronavirus with different stories from the resulting confinement. Although it is premature to develop a theory that makes sense about the artistic expressions coming from the pandemic, it is evident that in literature some hybrid narrative forms are beginning to develop. The authors mix the autobiographical story with fiction and essays. In the artistic field, on the other hand, the expression of discomfort due to the pandemic spreads more quickly and in a more explicit way. For these reasons we will focus on some of the literary works recently published in Latin America and Europe, and attention will be placed on the emblematic tale "Me olvido de todo menos de mi cuerpo" by Alia Trabucco Zerán. We will also take two comics as examples of visual languages emerged from confinement: The comic strip-based video, Rebibbia Quarantine. Drammatico reportage dalla quarantena di Roma Nord Est, by Zerocalcare and "Più forte di carta e inchiostro" which is part of the graphic novel Alck Sinner, by José Muñoz and Carlos Sampayo.
