In this paper, we aim to address the phenomenon of verbal periphrasis –very commonly used in Spanish language– from the point of view of translation, with reference to the Spanish-Italian language pair. In particular, our aim is to identify the techniques that have proved to be most relevant throughout the translation process from Spanish into Italian. In spite of the phylogenetic relationship between these two languages, which have traditionally been described as cognate languages, we will analyse which translational and interlinguistic operations have been carried out, in order to obtain a good translation. To this end, we will adopt the taxonomic proposal by Hurtado Albir (2011). The source text will be Caperucita en Manhattan (1990) by the famous writer Carmen Martín Gaite.

Abstract
The source text will be Caperucita en Manhattan (1990) by the famous writer Carmen Martín Gaite.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
