2-Cyclohexen-1-one was hydrogenated in the biphasic system trioctylmethylammonium chloride/isooctane by using neat RhCl3 as catalytic precursor. The catalytic system was very active and selective affording only cyclohexanone in quantitative yields; moreover, its activity was maintained practically unchanged in some recycling experiments.

Abstract
