Abstract

Still life is a pictorial genre that born in XVII century and distingushed by the absence of human figure. This absence is not immediatly a total disapparence of human: man is awaited, or he has just left the objects, putting them inside the pictorial space. Tools, food, scraps, everyday places: all they bear the marks of human hands and they are represented defenceless and opaque, in a iper-mimetic expression. But without giving up their emotional and esthetical values. The central part of the research focuses on the relations between the act of describing and the act of telling in painting, starting from some phenomenological considerations and considering some aspects of the concept of fetishism.
