Outdoor contemporary mural paintings already cover the walls of villages and cities, and new ones continue to be created. This fact raises questions about monitoring and, more in general, about the conservation of this kind of artworks, which cannot always be fulfilled as there is often a lack of systematic control of the state of conservation. Furthermore, since the information derives from different sources, a system to collect it in an open and easily interpretable scheme is proposed. Because of this, two tools are here presented: Art-Risk 1 and an adapted form of the Harris matrix, commonly used in archaeology. This approach investigates the efficacy and durability of constituting materials, in relation to the context of their site. These methodologies have been applied on two different paintings: Lettera dall’Argentina by Giuliano De Rocco, situated in Cibiana di Cadore in the province of Belluno, Italy, and a mural painting by Marcelo Carpita, on the campus of the National University of San Martin (UNSAM) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The aim of this work is to show the application of the above-mentioned methodologies, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice and the UNSAM.

Abstract
The aim of this work is to show the application of the above-mentioned methodologies, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice and the UNSAM.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
