The present article contains a new edition of the Life of Niphon the Athonite (BHG 1371) written by Jeremiah Patetas, accompanied by an Italian translation and an extensive commentary. The introductory section, discussing the biography of Niphon, presents a new chronological reconstruction and provides the available information on Jeremiah Patetas – who authored the Life and Akolouthia of Niphon and the Akolouthia in honour of Maximus the Kausokalyba –, as well as the description of all the manuscripts preserving the Life of Niphon.
