This paper examines the early emergence of the alternating neuter in Old Neapolitan through a quantitative and qualitative analysis of fourteenth-century texts. It investigates the coexistence of the conservative plural agreement in -a and the innovative pattern in -e, showing that the conservative type remained predominant while the innovative one spread gradually. The findings also highlight the impact of textual transmission on the distribution of the two agreement patterns.
