Democare e Teopompo. Storiografia e politica tra IV e III secolo a.C.

By comparing three testimonies from Demochares with texts from the indirect tradition of Theopompus, the author highlights elements of continuity in historiographical discourse between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. Both Demochares and Theopompus employed emphatic language and often adopted a critical stance in evaluating the conduct and character of historical figures. The polemical tone evident in fragments from both authors suggests a shared methodology across several generations of political historians.
