Due Note sull'Epigrafia Urbana di Età Repubblicana e Protoimperiale

The study of the titulus pedaturae in some urban termini sepulcrorum, preserved in the Giardino dei Cinquecento of the Museo Nazionale Romano, in the Terme di Diocleziano, evidenced the spelling in agru (instead of the correct and customary form in agro). This gave us the opportunity to undertake a research, whose aim is to provide an explanation for such improper spelling as a hypercorrection. The rereading of an inscription of the same Giardino dei Cinquecento, of the Museo Nazionale Romano in the Terme di Diocleziano, with the names of Aponii’s slaves and freedmen, gave the opportunity to correct the first reading of the text and to investigate the relationships between the Lucius Aponius of the urban inscription and the persons of the same name respectively well-notes from an inscription of Baeterrae, today Bezièrs, and a quotation of the Tacitus’s Annales.
