Abstract

The communication / paper shows a possible research path to approach the literature of the Pieds-Noirs. In particular as the result of a particular scientific attention to linguistic forms deviating from the norm: in particular a French dialect such as that spoken in the main cities of Algeria at the time when it was annexed by France. New language and original literature as specific expressions of a new people, such as the one that had formed in Algeria since its conquest in 1830. A quick review of the main literary works, linguistic studies and lexicographical tools dedicated to the pataouète. Analogies with other colonial and postcolonial linguistic-literary situations in the French-speaking area.
