This paper aims to reconstruct the life-long interest of art historian Antonio Morassi (1893-1976) for Titian, from his education as a pupil of Max Dvořák at the University of Vienna to the rediscovery of the "Sacra Conversazione Balbi " while he was Monuments and Fine Arts superintendent in Liguria during World War II and his publication for Silvana Editoriale, "Tiziano", in 1964, through the documents preserved in his archive at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

Abstract
