This dossier brings together articles and interviews focused on the relationship between Oral History and Public History in Latin European and Latin American contexts, particularly Italy and Brazil, examining their contribution to the production of historical knowledge in the present time. Public History, emerging in the late twentieth century, encompasses practices aimed at non-academic audiences, while Oral History has become a key methodology that reshapes the relationship between history and memory by broadening subjects and sources. The volume explores how these approaches redefine historical writing, the social role of historians, and their engagement with audiences within a context shaped by digital transformation, time acceleration, and the crisis of modernity. Special attention is given to testimony, contested memories, silence as a social practice, and the shared construction of historical knowledge. Through theoretical reflections and case studies, the dossier highlights how Oral History has provided essential tools for Public History, fostering participatory, inclusive, and ethically engaged practices. At the same time, Public History has expanded the circulation of oral sources, particularly through digital technologies. Overall, the collection reflects on the social function of history today, community engagement, and the democratization of narratives about the past.
