Jean-Pierre Lindner opened a discussion of the paper by Joseph S. M. Samec: You said the material is odour-free. How do you de-odourise the lignin? If you do the recycling and do thermal treatment, is it still odour free? Joseph S. M. Samec replied: We propose that it is either a caging effect (the odours are trapped in pores) or chemical effect (covalent bonds are formed to molecules that are volatile). We are not certain. Jean-Pierre Lindner asked: Can this kind of material be used for indoor applications, given that it is odour-free? Joseph S. M. Samec answered: Yes, this is something that we are very excited about and have started to explore.
