The decolonial turn has focused on the mechanisms ruling coloniality, the unbalanced relations of power, knowledge, and ways of being between communities and dominant groups that occupied mountain territories. The decolonial approach intends to develop a theoretical and methodological framework useful for addressing he still persisting marginalization of communities living in mountain areas. The main aim of decolonizing montology is to recognize the oppression and subordination mechanisms and, at the same time, to foster actions to support the intercultural dialogue, the ecology of knowledge, and the plurality of ways of being. The acknowledgment of the environmental ignorance and the cartography of re-existence will fulfil the promise of decolonize the mountain studies, mending the nature/culture fracture and hinder the socio-ecological collapse of humanity.
