This short article is about the city of Ghaza (Palestine) as reflected and observed by a selected number of 17th century Ottoman and European travelers. For one thing, travel literature represents an important and significant tool for our understanding of the Islamicate world, though many such works dating to the Ottoman period still await the well-deserved attention of scholars and researchers. In these notes, despite their brevity, the humble wish of the present writer is to bring some dignity to the city of Ghaza, its long and rich history, and to its people in an era of profound, harrowing tragedy.

Abstract
This short article is about the city of Ghaza (Palestine) as reflected and observed by a selected number of 17th century Ottoman and European travelers. For one thing, travel literature represents an important and significant tool for our understanding of the Islamicate world, though many such works dating to the Ottoman period still await the well-deserved attention of scholars and researchers. In these notes, despite their brevity, the humble wish of the present writer is to bring some dignity to the city of Ghaza, its long and rich history, and to its people in an era of profound, harrowing tragedy.File in questo prodotto:
