The article examines the syntactic realization of action predicates in Bulgarian belonging to three lexical-semantic groups: predicates of consumption, contact, and creation. The analysis focuses on the properties of the noun phrases that occur in the position of the direct (accusative) object. Their characteristics are discussed with respect to determination, quantification, and their role in marking the telicity of the predicate (i.e., whether they function as incremental or non-incremental themes). The study also comments on the relationship between the type of theme associated with the predicate (incremental vs. non-incremental), lexical aspect, telicity, and verbal aspect.
