In the summer of 1975, many women from different parts of Italy and other countries travelled to the island of San Pietro in Sardinia for a feminist holiday. Almost fifty years later, this article attempts to reconstruct the outlines of that experience, on the basis of interviews, a few photos and some contemporary written accounts (including fragments of a story). It is structured as a sequence of “snapshots” – real or imaginary – accompanied and commented on by asynchronous voices. The holiday itself is interpreted as a sort of “snapshot” of Italian feminism in the 1970s, as it allows us to grasp some of the key issues and distinctive features of the movement in a crucial year such as 1975.

Abstract
In the summer of 1975, many women from different parts of Italy and other countries travelled to the island of San Pietro in Sardinia for a feminist holiday. Almost fifty years later, this article attempts to reconstruct the outlines of that experience, on the basis of interviews, a few photos and some contemporary written accounts (including fragments of a story). It is structured as a sequence of “snapshots” – real or imaginary – accompanied and commented on by asynchronous voices. The holiday itself is interpreted as a sort of “snapshot” of Italian feminism in the 1970s, as it allows us to grasp some of the key issues and distinctive features of the movement in a crucial year such as 1975.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
