Description of the Project TeMAES. The project aims to examine the multiple territories as they were perceived and expressed by Greek populations in Antiquity. The objectives are: to address the plurality and multiscalarity of territories in Greek representations through the lens of agency, that is, by considering the different social actors (individuals and socio-cultural groups, with particular attention to subaltern groups—women, slaves, etc.); to highlight regional variations in the social organization of territories and borders by overcoming generalizations through an agency-based approach; to explore the interaction between different systems of territorial organization in Greece and in other regions of the Greek world.
