This contribution examines the emerging field of eco-welfare, highlighting the interdependence between ecological crises, social inequalities and welfare policies. In line with political ecology, it argues that environmental and social issues constitute inseparable dimensions of contemporary well-being and that ecological transitions risk producing regressive effects unless supported by adequate social measures. The analysis identifies three main directions: the reconfiguration of development models, the territorial dimension of inequalities and the transformation of social work through eco-social approaches. It also points to the role of basic services, social innovation and territorial economies as possible predistributive infrastructures for a new eco-welfare paradigm. From a policy perspective, the contribution underscores the urgency of integrated and inter-territorial strategies capable of fostering collective learning, social cohesion and sustainable local economies. Overall, it calls for overcoming sectoral approaches in order to govern ecological transitions as socio-environmental transformations grounded in justice and inclusion.
