This contribution describes the findings of a neurohumanities research project titled "Neurocities and Ruinscapes: Reconstructing Ancient Cities and Ruins Using Virtual Reality" (directed by Duke University in the United States). The study examines chosen panoramic views by Piranesi to determine how much the historical urban landscape has altered since the artist's time. In addition to these views, observers will be shown visual representations of landscapes built by GenAI using textual topographic descriptions passed down from ancient literary sources.
