The article addresses the issue of the local dimension in renewable energy communities. The article focuses, in particular, on a critical reading of the relationship between the local and certain lines of socio-technical innovation, with particular reference to blockchain technologies and tokenization. These technologies risk producing effects that are dissonant with respect to conceptualizations of the local and the political that characterize certain spaces of the debate on community energy.
