“Figlio di Trieste irredenta”. Note sulla collezione di Eugenio Garzolini dalla fototeca “Antonio Morassi” di Ca’ Foscari

«Figlio di Trieste irredenta». Notes on Eugenio Garzolini›s collection from the ‘Antonio Morassi’ photo library at Ca› Foscari Born from research paths initiated by early investigations into the Garzolini collection, this paper aims to provide a historical and critical framework for the state acquisition of the collections. This acquisition occurred within the broader context of regional exhibitions and was shaped by the contemporary debate at the Institut International de Coopération Intellectuelle, as well as by the contribution of the journal “Lares”. The study examines the epistemological relationship between the Museum and its cultural context and defines the scope of inquiry opened by art-historical photo libraries, thereby continuing the already substantial research devoted to Antonio Morassi’s photo library.
