The Leges Langobardorum project (A Digital Scholarly Edition of the Leges Langobardorum: Social Memory, Historical Legacy, and the Valorisation of Cultural Heritage) aims to produce an integrated digital scholarly edition of the Lombard law corpus, combining the principles of traditional textual criticism with the most advanced methodologies of digital philology. Originating within the framework of the ALIM programme (PRIN 2012) and now supported by the PRIN PNRR 2022 initiative (CUP H53D23009340001), it represents a meeting point between philological rigour, technological innovation, and the goal of enhancing cultural heritage. The edition was designed on the basis of the XML/TEI P5 schemas and incorporates high-resolution images compliant with the IIIF standard, handwriting text recognition (HTR) technologies, Linked Open Data, and interactive visualisation tools (EVT – Edition Visualization Technology, version 3). This methodological framework establishes a model of “integrated” digital edition—accessible, interoperable, and oriented towards the long-term sustainability of scholarly research.
