Marco Cé: A Long and Fruitful Episcopate from Bologna to Rome to Venice. This article offers brief notes on the most distinctive features of Marco Cé’s episcopal ministry (1925–2014): as Auxiliary Bishop of Bologna (1970–1976), General Ecclesiastical Assistant of Italian Catholic Action (1976–1979), Patriarch of Venice (1978–2002), and Patriarch Emeritus (2002–2014). Created cardinal in 1979, Cé also served as Vice President of the Italian Episcopal Conference from 1979 to 1990. The reconstruction of his pastoral activity highlights his consistent commitment to fostering reconciliation and ecclesial communion, promoting a vision of the Church as a ministerial reality, encouraging the responsibility of lay Catholics within both the Church and history, and affirming the value of the local Church within the communion of the universal Church.
Brevi note sulle caratteristiche più peculiari dell’episcopato di Marco Cé (1925-2014), come ausiliare di Bologna (1970-1976), assistente generale dell’Azione cattolica italiana (1976-1979), patriarca di Venezia (1978-2002), patriarca emerito (2002-2014). Cé, nominato cardinale nel 1979, fu anche vicepresidente della Conferenza episcopale italiana dal 1979 al 1990. Dalla ricostruzione emergono l’impegno per favorire la riconciliazione e la comunione ecclesiale, la promozione di una visione di chiesa come realtà ministeriale, la responsabilizzazione dei laici cattolici nella chiesa e nella storia, la valorizzazione della chiesa particolare nella comunione della chiesa universale.
