Abstract

During the study of the estate of the Czech orientalist Bedřich Hrozný, documents were discovered not only relating to many important political and cultural events of the last century but also shedding light on the work of numerous other scholars, including the Italian linguist Emilio Peruzzi. These documents attest to the philological talents of the young Peruzzi, and are a valuable testimony not only to the history of the study of Anatolian hieroglyphic writing, but also to the correspondence between scholars and the difficulty of accessing scholarly literature in the 1930s and on the eve and at the beginning of World War II.
