The paper presents the PAD (Pavia Archivi Digitali) project, dedicated to preserving born-digital archives of contemporary Italian writers. Through the case study of Francesco Pecoraro’s heterogeneous digital archive, it discusses challenges such as obsolete formats, data recovery, and digital forensics. The article also outlines PAD’s modular infrastructure and the development of PADManager, a tool designed to support cataloguing, preservation, and future textual analysis.
