During her editorial work at Einaudi in the 50's, Natalia Ginzburg was involved in some projects concerning the publication of important collections of fairy tales. The essay aims to show how Lessico famigliare, published in 1963, can be read as a fairy tale from different perspectives. The analysis deals with the structure of the book, the main characters and the treatment of time, and also points out some surprising parallels with Collodi's Pinocchio.
