Note a margine di "Un inverno freddissimo" di Fausta Cialente

The article reflects on the fortune of Fausta Cialente’s works, which until a few years ago were difficult to find. Recently, the writer’s books have been the focus of renewed critical and editorial interest. In particular thanks to the project of the publisher Nottetempo, which is currently printing some of Cialente’s main novels. These include Un inverno freddissimo, the author’s fourth novel, the new edition of which was published in 2022. The book was originally published in the mid-1960s, at a time of great world events and changes. But Cialente sets the story in the recent past, choosing the winter of 1946-47 as the time of the story. The article shows how the novel reinterprets the neorealist experience in the light of Proustian narrative modules and identifies the fundamental moments of its critical reception.
