La malattia viene col vento. L’esperienza della doppia epidemia in Val di Fiemme

In the past 4 years the Fiemme Valley has seen a co-presence of two epidemics: the first caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and shared with the rest of the world; the second caused by the insect Ips typographus, and spread in the Eastern Alps. In articulating the suffering – both human and vegetal – of this double epidemic, valley residents intertwined the health of forests with that of people; in presenting and analyzing the main motifs of that intertwining, the article offers a reflection on the interspecific paradigm of disease.

Negli ultimi 4 anni la Val di Fiemme (Provincia Autonoma di Trento) ha visto la compresenza di due epidemie: la prima causata dal virus SARS-CoV-2, e condivisa con il resto del mondo; la seconda provocata dall’insetto Ips typographus, e diffusa nelle Alpi orientali. Nell’articolare la sofferenza – sia umana, sia vegetale – di questa doppia epidemia, gli abitanti della valle hanno intrecciato la salute dei boschi a quella delle persone; nel presentare e analizzare i motivi principali di quell’intreccio, l’articolo propone una riflessione sul paradigma interspecifico di malattia.
