The concept of competence, often reduced to an economic-functionalistic point of view, requires a rereading which enhances its human, social and ethical dimension. This paper analyses how the agency’s capability process can develop the idea of competence, redefining the sense of education. Through an integrated pedagogical approach, the role of competences in fostering human growth and active social participation is explored, which by going on the self-determination and personal transformation skills, allow us to overcome the performative model in support of employability. The capability agency, by activating the reflective, participatory and relational dimension, convert competences into agency’s self-determination tools, contributing to re-establishing the purposes of education and its processes.
Il concetto di competenza, spesso ridotto a una prospettiva economicofunzionalistica, necessita di una rilettura che ne valorizzi la dimensione umana, sociale ed etica. Questo saggio analizza come la capacitazione dell’agency contribuisca a far evolvere l’idea di competenza, ridisegnando il significato della formazione. Attraverso un approccio pedagogico integrato, si esplora il ruolo delle competenze nel favorire la crescita umana e la partecipazione sociale attiva, che agendo sulle capacità di autodeterminazione e trasformazione personale, permette di superare il modello performativo a sostegno dell’occupabilità. L’agency capacitante, attivando la dimensione riflessiva, partecipativa e relazionale, converte le competenze in strumenti di autodeterminazione dell’agire, contribuendo a ristabilire i fini della formazione e dei suoi processi.
