Abstract

The sanctuary of Apollo Zoster is located in the modern municipality of Vouliagmeni on the western coast of Attica, within the territory of the deme of Halai Aixonides. Excavations in this area have brought to light epigraphic documents spanning a chronological range from the late 6th century to the first half of the 3rd century BCE. The inscriptions — including decrees, dedications, religious accounts — offer valuable insights into various aspects, especially regarding the cult personnel and the cult practices. In this paper a new reading of the paradosis accounts IG I³ 249 is proposed, also contributing to a broader reflection on the control and the administration of the sanctuary.
