The increasing number of studies on the political thought of Germaine de Staël (1766-1817) is a recent phenomenon that has enabled us to rediscover her most important political work: the Considérations sur les principaux événements de la Révolution française. However, designing a digital edition of this posthumous work has to face several challenges because the last manuscript left by the author shows a multi-handed work carried out under her supervision and also after her death. What kind of text or texts should we propose? What kind of encoding system should we choose for the different types of interventions? The project has just started, but it provides some insights about the choice of an edition that takes into account Germaine de Staël's way of working, which shows a complex notion of authorship.
