Exercising memory and geopolitics in the European Cultural Routes. The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe are primarily studied in relation to discourses on the democratisation of heritage, diversification of local economies, and practices of place branding. This study proceeds to a further level of analysis, the geopolitical one, considering the Itineraries as part of an attempt at the political-cultural (re)construction of Europe in terms of identity, space and territory. The research focuses on a sample of Itineraries analysed using the method of critical discourse analysis, particularly the thematic analysis of keywords, starting from a theoretical framework based on cultural infrastructures and following the connection between politicised memory and storytelling practices as they are made explicit in their institutional discourses.

Abstract
Exercising memory and geopolitics in the European Cultural Routes. The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe are primarily studied in relation to discourses on the democratisation of heritage, diversification of local economies, and practices of place branding. This study proceeds to a further level of analysis, the geopolitical one, considering the Itineraries as part of an attempt at the political-cultural (re)construction of Europe in terms of identity, space and territory. The research focuses on a sample of Itineraries analysed using the method of critical discourse analysis, particularly the thematic analysis of keywords, starting from a theoretical framework based on cultural infrastructures and following the connection between politicised memory and storytelling practices as they are made explicit in their institutional discourses.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
