For social philosophy, society is less a specific object then a set of relations that appear in different forms on three different levels: of order, of practices and of social subjects. It should account for three forms of power that operate on these three levels in rather specific ways. Reflection on these phenomena of power can then lead to reflections on the possibility to transform, alter and modify given social relations and therefore to politics. I offer a certain constellation or grid of concepts which can guide or frame social-philosophical investigations of such a critical orientation.

Abstract

For social philosophy, society is less a specific object then a set of relations that appear in different forms on three different levels: of order, of practices and of social subjects. It should account for three forms of power that operate on these three levels in rather specific ways. Reflection on these phenomena of power can then lead to reflections on the possibility to transform, alter and modify given social relations and therefore to politics. I offer a certain constellation or grid of concepts which can guide or frame social-philosophical investigations of such a critical orientation.
