The paper reassesses Strabo’s account of northern Anatolia, the region with which he was more familiar, having been born in Amaseia. It offers some observations on how Strabo described the regions that formed the largest part of his personal landscape (namely Pontus, Paphlagonia and Cappadocia) in their geographical, ethnic and historical dimension.
