The deepest impact of the Internet, an impact that has yet to be fully realized, is its ability to support and expand the various aspects of social and individual learning. Social learning is based on the premise that our understanding of the content is socially constructed through conversations on that content and interactions with others. The focus is not only on what we are learning but on how we learn to learn together in common areas and peripherally in self-taught situations.

L'impatto più profondo di Internet, impatto che deve ancora essere pienamente realizzato, è la sua capacità di supportare ed espandere i vari aspetti dell’apprendimento sociale ed individuale. L'apprendimento sociale è basato sulla premessa che la nostra comprensione del contenuto è costruita socialmente attraverso le conversazioni su quel contenuto e le interazioni con gli altri. Il focus non è soltanto quello che stiamo imparando ma come impariamo ad imparare, insieme in spazi comuni e perifericamente in situazioni autodidattiche.
