Allevamento e alimentazione nella Cisalpina romana: un primo bilancio tra archeologia e archeozoologia

The paper aims to offer a preliminary framework of knowledge on zooarchaeological topics in the Norh-Eastern Italy during the Roman age, proceeding through a comparative data analysis from about thirty different contexts: cities, towns villas and farms. Considering the specificity of each site, it has been possible to highlight the close relationship between the management of the domestic and wild animals and the environment, the economic systems and the eating habits. The available data allowed to reconstruct above all some aspects related to the 'consumption' of the animal resource in the Roman Cisalpine, which shows a clear predilection for sheep and pigs, but with local specificities; through the analysis of consumption it has been attempted to reconstruct also the 'production' of the animal resource, linked to the environmental vocation, even in the awareness of the considerable incidence of the political, economic and cultural factors involved in the complex production-distribution-consumption relationship.
