Starting from the concept of media configuration as a notion able to convey the sense of dynamism, formal openness, and potential (re-)assemblage of the media populating contemporary visual culture, this article reflects upon the aquatic landscape as a paradigmatic environment that inspires fluid and transitory forms. Adopting the Venetian lagoon as an example of such a landscape, the text highlights its role as an experiential framework, which has been serving over the past two decades as a natural agent in the creative process of Studio Azzurro. Through the analysis of three artworks by the collective, each and everyone linked to the lagoon in a different way, the article sketches a journey unfolding as a voyage made up of encounters, fleeting intersections, and virtuous moments of mutual inspiration between the imagery of the lagoon landscape—captured in the multiplicity of its diverse features—and the development of a reflection that goes beyond representation in order to critically question this landscape in search of dwelling opportunities.

Abstract
Starting from the concept of media configuration as a notion able to convey the sense of dynamism, formal openness, and potential (re-)assemblage of the media populating contemporary visual culture, this article reflects upon the aquatic landscape as a paradigmatic environment that inspires fluid and transitory forms. Adopting the Venetian lagoon as an example of such a landscape, the text highlights its role as an experiential framework, which has been serving over the past two decades as a natural agent in the creative process of Studio Azzurro. Through the analysis of three artworks by the collective, each and everyone linked to the lagoon in a different way, the article sketches a journey unfolding as a voyage made up of encounters, fleeting intersections, and virtuous moments of mutual inspiration between the imagery of the lagoon landscape—captured in the multiplicity of its diverse features—and the development of a reflection that goes beyond representation in order to critically question this landscape in search of dwelling opportunities.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
