By examining theories and a select number of textbooks, the paper analyzes how scholars and educators of Arab origin have stressed the importance of correct pronunciation (nuṭq salīm or ṣaḥīḥ) in the Teaching of Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) and partly in Arabic L1 education. In this light, the study examines where the concept of pronunciation accuracy has originated and discusses the main theoretical claims and practical applications formulated by a select number of scholars, representative of the scientific literature.
